Removing the Sessions releases and why

On July 24th I issued a take down request to Soundcloud the distributor of “The Hex Sessions” & “The Envy Sessions” and my request was received and executed the next day.  Over about the course of a week I received messages from those of you that used the remixes on those releases for your profession, I have a message for you in this article here.  I’m also moving away from Soundcloud which I will address in another article soon.

Why the removal?

The catalog presented some inconsistencies, with some services categorizing releases as EPs while others labeled them as full-length LPs. My intention was to emulate the Maxi-Single format, which included the main track along with its remixes and variations. Unfortunately, this approach did not resonate as anticipated. Analytics indicate that these releases received the fewest streams among all my offerings. The cost implications of maintaining these on platforms like Soundcloud, which charges $14 monthly, and Distrokid, which has an annual fee of $36 and an optional one-time Legacy fee of $50 for perpetual hosting, became challenging to justify. Specifically, "The Hex Sessions" and "The Envy Sessions" incurred monthly costs that did not align with their streaming performance.

Any plans to reinstate the Session Releases?

No, not in the same format at least. There may be a reissue of “Arete” with remastered tracks and another issue in Deluxe Edition soon. The deluxe edition will contain the best of the session releases.

Why does “The Isolation Sessions” still remain?

Because streaming analytics show it’s much loved.  And it was NOT distributed by Soundcloud but my new official distributor Distrokid. There are no plans to remove “The Isolation Sessions”

How will the new sequence of releases go and are they to remain permanent?

Everything I release will be in an EP format along with a deluxe edition version that will feature similar to what the sessions releases featured.
